Garden State Sheep BreedersFleece AuctionThe Fleece Auction will start on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Fleeces will be accepted for sale Saturday and Sunday at the site of the auction. On Sunday, they must be dropped off before 9:30 AM to be entered in the auction. Fleeces from any type of fiber animal may be entered (wool, mohair, angora, llama or alpaca, etc.). Auction Guidelines
1. All fleeces must be skirted, with no tags. They will be unrolled on a table
so that buyers can inspect them as they are sold.
7. Each potential buyer will be assigned a buyer code, and index cards with the buyer code will be distributed to each buyer as they join the auction. Bidders will be given the option to provide contact information (email or mailing address) solely for notification of the date/time of next years auction. 8. Sales will be recorded by asssigned buyer code. A running tab will be constructed by buyer code throughout the auction, so that buyers can leave at anytime. 9. A calculator will be made available for buyers to calculate the weight per pound as the auction progresses if they wish to do so. 10. A scale will be provided for the buyer to verify the weight of the fleece if they wish to do so, but the fleece will not be weighed before the auction by the Auction Staff. If a major discrepancy in fleece representation (i.e.-weight, description of contents) is consistently noticed with a specific seller, the Auction Staff reserves the right to disqualify the seller from the current and/or future auctions. 11. For buyers - cash or personal checks are accepted, but no credit cards. Checks should be made payable to "Garden State Sheep Breeders". 12. Partial fleeces may be sold - there is no requirement that a full fleece be sold. 13. Fleeces from fiber animals other than sheep, may be rolled up in plastic to facilitate rolling out for display and then re-rolling to keep the fleece intact.
